Berta Cáceres was the most recognized environmental defender in Central America. She had been fighting for more than 20 years for the rights of indigenous people in Honduras and the protection of their territories. Although she had disclosed threats made against her, she was murdered on March 2, 2016. This is the reconstruction of a crime that caused global outrage and may not be appropriate for all listeners. Artwork by Yael Frankel |
